The ongoing dispute between actress Rupali Ganguly and her stepdaughter, Esha Verma, has sparked fresh controversy following a social media post by Esha. On her Instagram Stories, Esha appeared to criticize the Anupamaa star, referring to her as “evil” for allegedly scheduling their next court hearing on her birthday. In the now-deleted post, she wrote, “Ty to the evil step lady for scheduling the next court date on my bday muah.”
Shortly after the post gained traction, Esha responded to the media attention by clarifying that the post was shared by mistake. She explained in the comments of a news portal’s post that her Instagram was a personal space meant to connect with friends and share thoughts. She added, “I was just typing out my feelings before bed and had meant to send it to a close friend, but it accidentally went to my story. I wasn’t trying to start anything or make this public, it was just me processing my emotions in the moment.” Esha also expressed her frustration over the attention her post received, stating, “Seeing my court date fall on my birthday has been overwhelming, and I was simply expressing my frustration. It’s exhausting to be constantly monitored, and frustrating to see casual posts turned into headlines.”
The conflict between Rupali Ganguly and Esha Verma, daughter of Rupali’s husband Ashwin Verma from his previous marriage, began last year. Esha had accused the actress of causing a rift in their family and labeled her as “abusive and toxic” in a social media post. In response, Rupali filed a defamation suit against Esha, seeking 50 crore in damages. The Bombay High Court granted interim relief to Rupali in January, restraining Esha and digital platforms from sharing defamatory content about her.
Addressing the allegations during a public event, Rupali commented on the emotional toll of the situation, stating, “It would be a lie to say it doesn’t affect me. Of course, it does. We are all human. It hurts when bad things are said, even behind my back. But I believe that good deeds always lead to good outcomes, even if bad phases come in life.”
The legal dispute between Rupali Ganguly and Esha Verma remains ongoing, with both parties standing firm on their positions.
