In a recent turn of events, three accused have been arrested amid the pornographic photo case of Karnataka actor Rukmini Vasanth, which went viral. The authorities have revealed many secrets about them, as the police stated that the accused Ravikumar is a student of BSc Nursing. As per reports, the other accused, Ranjith Kumar, is a software engineer with a salary of Rs 20 Lakh per year. He has now confessed to making deepfake videos of Rukmini Vasanth “just for fun.” Not just this, the third accused, Chandrakath, is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and has also confessed to doing the same. All three mobile phones have been seized after their arrest, which further revealed that they used the AI technology to make these videos and photos, and got them viral.

For the unversed, Rkumini is one of the most famous stars from Karnataka, and has featured in hits like Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and Kantara: Chapter 1. She had gone to the authorities after seeing many objectionable AI-generated videos of her being shared online. The actor became a victim of this deepfake scam, where many videos and pictures of her in a bikini began circulating on the internet, claiming that these were taken from a film shoot. Her complaint stated that such content was “defamatory” and had a big impact on her privacy.
The three accused were taken to a judidical magistrate and were later remanded amid the investigation. Authorities have also registered a case nder relevant sections of the Informaton Technology Act and the BNS. Authorities are now searching if more people were involved in this crime.
