Rhea Chakraborty’s Friend Reveals How Sushant Singh Rajput Case “Ripped Apart” Her Life
5 years after Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing, his former girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, continues to pick up the pieces of a life torn apart!

Nearly five years after Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic passing, his former girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, continues to pick up the pieces of a life torn apart. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently cleared her and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, of any wrongdoing, but the damage, as those close to her say, is irreversible. In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Rhea’s friend, Nidhi Hiranandani, opened up about the immense trauma and emotional scars that still linger.
Rhea Chakraborty Still Shattered
Rhea and Sushant’s relationship, described by those who knew them as loving and full of promise, came under intense scrutiny after the actor’s sudden death on June 14, 2020. Overnight, Rhea became the face of public outrage, subjected to relentless media trials, online hate, and legal battles. Nidhi recalled the moment Rhea was summoned for questioning, stating that there was no time for her to process her grief—she was immediately thrust into survival mode.
The media circus surrounding the case was unrelenting. Nidhi recounted watching in horror as Rhea was mobbed outside her home, returning with bruises on her arms and face. The actress’s mother, Sandhya Chakraborty, stood frozen in shock, unable to comprehend the chaos unfolding before her eyes. “She lost her voice,” Nidhi shared. “She would stand for hours in the temple, just praying for her daughter’s safety.”
Beyond the personal attacks, Rhea and her family suffered profound losses, emotional, professional, and financial. “Indrajit and Sandhya treated Sushant like their own son,” Nidhi revealed. “And yet, they were vilified. Their mental health was already deteriorating, and then came the arrests.”

Showik, who was only 23 at the time, had his academic future derailed. He had secured admissions to top institutions but was denied the opportunity to continue his education due to the ongoing case. “He was just a boy,” Nidhi said. “Now, he’s a man trying to rebuild his life. But he lost his youth, his carefree days. Both Rhea and Showik had to grow up overnight.”
As for Rhea, her once-promising career in Bollywood came to a standstill. She lost film projects, brand endorsements, and was virtually blacklisted from the industry. “What Rhea endured was unimaginable,” Nidhi stated. “She became the scapegoat in a storm of misinformation and public anger.”
Despite the CBI’s final report absolving Rhea and Showik, the weight of the past remains. “Legally, the case is over. But emotionally? The scars will never fade,” Nidhi admitted. “Rhea is trying to move forward, but she’s not the same person. She’s a shattered version of who she used to be.”
