Rhea Chakraborty Reveals Loosing Everything After Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death Controversy. More Details Inside!

Rhea Chakraborty has finally spoken out about the professional and personal damage that ensued after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in 2020. In a recent interview, she exposed how the controversy storm didn’t just put her acting career on hold but also derailed the future of her brother, Showik Chakraborty. After Sushant’s untimely death in June 2020, Rhea found herself in the middle of a media and judicial storm.

During an interview with CNBC-18, Rhea spoke about she and her brother Showik were detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau in relation to a narcotics investigation, which arose in the wake of the case. Although both were later let out, the harm had already been inflicted.

Looking back on those tough days, Rhea said that opportunities at work in the film industry vanished overnight. Scripts ceased to come in for her. For Showik, matters weren’t any different, having achieved a high 96 percentile in the CAT and bagging a spot at a premier business school, the arrest made him unable to start his MBA. Rhea also talked about how being away during the first semester wrecked his study plans and future ambitions.

Furthermore, attempting to return to the workplace was very tough for Showik, given the high level of media attention around their names, most corporate recruiters weren’t prepared to take a risk, Rhea revealed. “We didn’t know what to do next,” she declared, explaining that the ambiguity left them looking for guidance.

Rather than giving up, the brothers chose to forge their own way. From that, Chapter 2 Drip was born, a streetwear apparel brand built around self-expression and representation. The business gave them a new sense of purpose and was part of their healing process. The two celebrated the opening of their brand’s first physical store on May 24 in Mumbai, even performing a small puja to bless the place. Finally, after all the legal wrangling and harsh public censure for years, in May 2024, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a closure report formally exonerating both Rhea and Showik of all allegations connected with Sushant’s death.

Back in the world of entertainment, Rhea returned last year on MTV Roadies as a gang leader and went on to win the season. Although she returned this year, the trophy was handed over to YouTuber Elvish Yadav.
