One such celeb is Rhea Chakraborty, who grabbed all the headlines in 2020 and 2021. Now, she is opening up about how she went through PTSD and how there is still stigma around the subject of mental health. Rhea Chakraborty On Battling PTSD
As per her conversation with Hindustan Times, the actress and YouTuber candidly stated that she was diagnosed with “PTSD” and even normal things, like an individual running toward her to open a door, used to make her panic. She added lactic acid used to build up in her calves, as PTSD is responsible for activating one’s “fight or flight response.” Due to this, one remains in “survival mode.” Adding to this, the Mere Dad Ki Maruti actress revealed that her gut also was affected because of this, as it is one’s “second brain.” She talked about changing her lifestyle for two years. Further, Chakraborty shared that she became a vegetarian and used to only consume “Khichadi.”
According to the actress, mental health problem is a “pandemic” as everyone is suffering from it. She stated that 15 and 16-year-olds in the present day will say that they are suffering from “anxiety, because of the hustle culture.” She added that there’s a “pressure” to do a lot all the time. Although, as per Chakraborty, the conversation around mental health has improved, there is still “stigma” attached to it. She reportedly added that she has done therapy for three and a half years, during a phase of her life, she used to go to therapy every Wednesday at 4 pm for two years and four months, without missing a session. She credited therapy for saving her and shared that she doesn’t believe those individuals who say that “therapy is nonsense.”
