Reem Shaikh, a beloved actor known for her roles in Wazir, Tujhse Hai Raabta, and Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal, recently opened up in an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist about her struggles with PCOS and the harsh online trolling she faced for her appearance. The actor recalled how acne and weight gain during the pandemic became a subject of public scrutiny and led to difficult moments.
Reem Shaikh On Acne Trolling
During the interview, Reem revealed the challenges she faced when dealing with PCOS, a hormonal disorder that affects each person differently. “COVID mein waise hi sabne weight gain kiya tha, and mujhe PCOS ho gaya. Bohot zyada trigger ho gaya,” she shared. At the same time, she experienced a urinary tract infection (UTI), making the phase even more challenging. As shooting resumed, her body was still reacting to the condition. “For me, I was gaining weight, I was getting a lot of body hair, and of course, I was getting a lot of acne,” she added.
The impact of these physical changes was amplified by the trolling she encountered online. Reem recounted one of the harshest comments she received: “Can’t she afford a dermatologist? Itna kaam kar rahi hai, main bata doon.” Such remarks, especially when aimed at natural conditions like acne, made it difficult for her to face the public eye.
Reem’s honesty highlights the struggles of many women dealing with PCOS, which can trigger a range of symptoms, including hormonal acne, weight gain, and excessive body hair. Despite the criticism, Reem focused on addressing her health issues rather than succumbing to societal pressures.
On the latest episode of The Male Feminist, Reem Shaikh also opened up about the scary incident where the sugar syrup splashed onto her on a cooking show and what she did next.
