Red Velvet Members Yeri And Wendy Part Ways With SM Entertainment

SM Entertainment shared the news through Red Velvet’s official social media channels, announcing the conclusion of Wendy and Yeri’s exclusive contracts. The company expressed gratitude for the happy times shared with the two members. The agency conveyed their sincere support for Wendy and Yeri as they venture into new paths.

Importantly, the statement also mentioned that this transition will not affect Wendy and Yeri’s participation in Red Velvet’s group activities. Fans can eagerly anticipate a bright future for the group, with all five members continuing to create music and perform together.

SM Entertainment also extended their appreciation to the fans for the immense love and support shown to Wendy and Yeri over the years. They encouraged them to continue supporting the artists in their upcoming challenges and individual pursuits.

This announcement follows the previous renewals of contracts by the other Red Velvet members: Seulgi in August 2023, Irene in February 2024, and Joy most recently in January 2025. Earlier, Yeri dropped a message, hinting at the announcement. The K-pop idol stated that she wanted to share some news with their fans directly before it became public. She wrote that an announcement involving them and their agency would be released the following morning. The K-pop ido;  felt it was important for their supporters to hear it from them first, rather than being surprised by an article. She reassured her fans that their affection for them would remain constant.
