The reason for his comeback this year, after giving iconic shows like Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, was controversial. For the unversed, in 2021, the actor got involved in allegations from an ex-girlfriend accusing him of emotional abuse and coercing her into an abortion. An anonymous post surfaced where a woman made allegations against ‘Actor K’ who turned out to be him. This was after Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’s finale.
Seonho even issued a public apology and admitted to all the allegations. This controversy cost him major brand endorsements, and he also had to step down from the reality show 2 Days & 1 Night, which he was doing at the time. He went into a hiatus and refrained from making public appearances. Further investigation proved that the abortion was consensual and that their split was caused by his girlfriend’s infidelity.
Kim Seonho’s ex-girlfriend apologised for the misunderstanding and acknowledged the errors in her earlier accusations. Soon after, public perception began to alter, as Seonho sought to rebuild his career by returning to acting, paving the path for a successful comeback. Seonho is now back to play the male lead full-throttle, reuniting with his Start-Up co-star Bae Suzy in the upcoming show Portraits of Delusion, which will premiere later this year.
