A recent post on Threads went viral with a story about Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki’s divorce. The person who posted said their mom was a close friend of Song Joong Ki’s dad. She went to their 2017 wedding but could not take photos because phones were not allowed. According to her, one main reason behind their divorce was that Song Joong Ki’s dad felt Song Hye Kyo was not obedient enough. She valued her freedom a lot, while Song Joong Ki always listened to his father. This difference led to many fights and eventually their divorce in 2019.
For the unversed, the couple first met in 2013 through their friend, actor Jo In Sung. Their connection grew while filming the super popular 2016 drama Descendants of the Sun. Fans went crazy over their sweet on-screen love story. In 2016, people saw them together in New York and dating rumours started, but their agencies said no. Later in 2017, they confirmed they had been dating since 2015. They got married that same year in a private and beautiful ceremony.
Sadly, their marriage lasted only 20 months. In 2019, they announced the divorce and said it was because of personality differences. They did not share more details at the time, but fans always wanted to know the full story.
