When the first season of Mirzapur premiered, it took audiences by storm, generating a frenzy that few had anticipated. Among the show’s standout characters is Beena Tripathi, brought to life by the talented Rasika Dugal. Known for her unapologetic expression of sexual desire, Beena is a character who commands attention and challenges societal norms. This bold portrayal, however, stands in stark contrast to Rasika’s own experiences with discussing sexuality. In an exclusive interview with Hauterrlfy’s The Male Feminist, Rasika shared why playing Beena Tripathi has been a profoundly empowering experience for her and how it contrasts with her journey.

Rasika Dugal On Playing Beena Tripathi

During the interview Rasika Dugal opened up about her connection with Beena Tripathi and why she enjoys playing this bold character. “No, it took me a long time and it’s still an effort for me, to be very honest,” Dugal admitted when asked if she was vocal about her s*xual experiences in real life. “These things are somewhere in my mind associated unfortunately with shame, and that’s why I love Beena Tripathi. I love being her because it’s about owning your desire, at least for some of the scenes.”

Rasika elaborated on how playing Beena Tripathi has been a liberating experience. In the show, Beena’s character exudes a sensual confidence that is both captivating and empowering. “So I get to be that for some of the scenes and people look at her and say there’s something sexy about her, there’s something sensual about her and you don’t know what. So I love the way of being which kind of owns that,” she explained. The actress’s portrayal of Beena has resonated with many viewers, who see the character as a symbol of unapologetic femininity and strength. Rasika’s ability to embody this character so convincingly highlights her versatility and depth as an actress. It’s clear that Beena Tripathi’s boldness and Rasika’s nuanced performance have left a lasting impression on the audience.
