Rashmika Mandanna Would Rather Lose A Movie Than Smoke On Screen. We Love Boundaries!

Rashmika Mandanna is standing firm on her boundaries and it’s refreshing to see. While speaking at a recent event, the Pushpa actor opened up about the choices she makes as a woman in cinema, especially when it comes to personal values. One such value? No smoking, not even for a role. Read for more details about what Rashmika Mandanna had to say,

Rashmika Mandanna On Smoking For A Role In A Movie

During the We The Women festival in London, curated by Barkha Dutt, Rashmika admitted that while she respects artistic expression, smoking is a hard no for her. She said that she is not comfortable portraying smoking on-screen because she doesn’t believe in it personally. And if a role demands that, she would rather pass on the film. The conversation also touched on her role in Animal, which sparked a fair amount of debate around gender dynamics and violence. Rashmika, however, offered a pragmatic take.

She said she chooses to watch films as artistic expressions rather than moral guides. Rashmika explained that just because a character smokes on-screen doesn’t mean audiences will follow suit. And hence the same logic doesn’t apply the other way around either.

She also reflected on her career and spoke about the pressures women face in maintaining their status in the film industry. While she acknowledged that men often face the challenge of breaking through, she believes women have an additional hurdle staying there. “It’s not just about reaching the top, it’s about sustaining it,” she shared.

On the professional front, Rashmika recently unveiled the first look of Mysaa, a film she says represents a space she’s never explored before. It marks a shift in her cinematic journey and promises something vastly different from her previous work. Her upcoming slate is packed with Thama opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, The Girlfriend, Rainbow, and the eagerly anticipated Pushpa 3, while her recent Hindi outing Sikandar didn’t fare well.
