Rashmika Mandanna Warns Against Speculations Relating To Viral Audio
Apparently taken from an interview with a Kannada media outlet in 2018, the viral audio clip is of Rashmika’s mother. Suman Mandanna supposedly spoke about why Rakshit Shetty and her daughter parted ways and broke off their engagement.
Purportedly, fights about the impeding marriage were brewing between their families. Apparently, Shetty wanted control over his then partner’s acting career. Things came to a head when Rashmika Mandanna was offered Geetha Govindam. Frequent calls for stopping acting professionally drew an incorrigible wedge, eventually leading to a breakup when Rakshit did not support Rashmika. None of this has been substantiated.
Rashmika’s Statement On The “Widely Circulated Audio Clip
While Rashmika had refrained from making any comments about her previous relationship, she decided to draw firm boundaries. Asking fans to not circulate the clip, she said that “misinformation, harassment, and targeted attacks” had been rampant for eight years. She stayed silent despite false narratives being created, but the hate has increased to a level that she couldn’t grapple with. She may have chosen “patience and silence”, but the fact that a private conversation from so long ago has resurfaced without consent of the recorded bothered her immensely.
The Girlfriend star alleged that the audio clip being “circulated widely” was “deliberately taken out of context” to create a scandal. She added that the timing was strategic, right after “recent developments in [her] personal life”, referring to her wedding (with Vijay Deverakonda).
Calling out the unnecessary hate and privacy violations, Rashmika said the media had dragged her family and those she was cordial with. Reflecting on growing in her life, she pointed out how sad it was that certain people continued to “manufacture hate and controversy.” This was especially jarring because someone else’s dignity and comfort were in question.
Rashmika’s Ultimatum To Those Sharing The Audio
After choosing silence for so long, the actor says she will “draw a boundary.” The actor gave “media platforms, influencers and individuals” still sharing the audio and related narratives a 24 hour ultimatum. Requesting them to take down all the content, she says after a day she would start taking legal action by way of notices. Assuring the audience, she concluded, that the step was not taken lightly, but it became necessary.
