Ranya Rao Gold Smuggling Case: Actor Used YouTube To Learn Gold Hiding From YouTube

Kannada actor Ranya Rao has been making headlines since her arrest at the Bengaluru airport earlier this month for smuggling gold. She admitted to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials that she smuggled gold for the first time from Dubai to India. In recent updates, shocking news of the actress learning to conceal gold bars through YouTube videos has come up.

Ranya Rao Gold Smuggling Case

According to India Today, Ranya Rao admitted that she was receiving a lot of phone calls from unknown numbers for two weeks before the smuggling attempt. “The gold was in two plastic-covered packets. I attached the gold bars to my body in the airport restroom. I hid the gold in my jeans and shoes. I learnt how to do this from YouTube videos,” she said. She admitted that it was her first time doing this and that she had never brought or purchased gold from Dubai before.

Rao, the stepdaughter of Karnataka DGP K Ramachandra Rao, was apprehended at Bengaluru airport for attempting to smuggle 14.2 kg of gold worth ₹12.56 crore concealed in gold biscuits strapped to her body. She admitted to purchasing a crepe bandage at the Dubai airport before securing the gold bars to her body inside the restroom.

During a confession, she said that she had been receiving calls from unknown numbers for two weeks. She was instructed to go to Gate A at the Terminal 3 of Dubai Airport, collect gold, and deliver it to the Bengaluru airport. Ranya Rao claimed that she did not know the identity of the person who called or guided her. The man was around six feet tall and fair-skinned.
