Aditya Dhar’s directorial Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and more, has been a massive hit at the box office. The film is also receiving good reviews from the audience and has crossed Rs 200 just in a week. However, amid the success, the film is also reportedly said to have been banned in the Gulf countries. While the makers tried securing a release in their markets, they were denied clearance due to concerns about the film’s political positioning.

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Banned In Gulf Countries

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have not released Dhurandhar. There were apprehensions that this would happen as the film is perceived as an ‘anti-Pakistan film.'” Many films have failed to get released in the Gulf markets before, too, because of their themes. Dhurandhar’s political positioning led to its ban in the Gulf region. The report further revealed that the film has collected Rs 44 Crores overseas in just 4 days; however, the number could have been a lot more had it been released in the Gulf as well.

Films like Sky Force, The Diplomat, Article 370, Tiger 3, and The Kashmir Files have faced similar restrictions in parts of the Middle East. Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter was also banned in all the Gulf regions except for the UAE. However, just a day later, the UAE also suspended its release in its territory, leading the makers to re-edit the film and remove certain scenes for it to get released; however, the revised version of Fighter was also rejected.
