Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. However, ahead of its release, the film is facing some legal troubles over Ranveer’s character in the film. There are speculations that the character is based on the late Major Mohit Sharma’s life, and his parents also moved to the court for a stay order on the film. What Did The High Court Say?
As per the news reports, the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma filed a petition in Delhi High Court in which they claimed that the film’s character is inspired from their son’s life, and that no consent was taken for it. According to the a report by Hindustan Times, the HC has not put any stay order on the film as of now, however, it has asked CBFC to take few things into consideration before granting clearance to the film. These include taking into account all the claims and concerns that the family has related to the film, and also to consult the Indian Army if needed. So as of now, the responsibility lies on CBFC. For the unversed, Dhurandhar is scheduled to release in theatres on December 5, 2025.
The director Aditya Dhar had also commented on the rumours around Ranveer Singh’s character, and if there was any truth in the rumours doing rounds. He clarified that the film was not based on the life of late Major Mohit Sharma and that if he plans on doing a film on him in the future, he would take all the required consent needed for it.
