The controversy erupted when a clip from the show, where Allahbadia posed a highly inappropriate question to a contestant, went viral. The question, which sparked outrage for its obscene nature, triggered legal action from multiple states. Following a mention by Allahbadia’s legal team, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna confirmed that the Supreme Court would list the matter for hearing shortly.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department was among the first to act, filing an FIR against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and other participants involved in the show. Authorities charged them under the Information Technology (IT) Act for allegedly creating and distributing obscene content. Additionally, the department has demanded the removal of all 18 episodes of India’s Got Latent, citing the use of vulgar language and inappropriate content throughout the series.
In a parallel development, Assam Police has issued fresh summons to Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani. The Guwahati Police registered an FIR on February 10, accusing the creators of promoting obscenity and participating in explicit discussions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma publicly condemned the content, underscoring the seriousness of the charges.
Meanwhile, comedian Samay Raina, the show’s host, deleted all episodes from his YouTube channel. Raina also addressed the controversy via social media, expressing his struggles in dealing with the fallout and committing to support the investigation.
