Ranjeet Recalls When Parveen Babi Was “Upset And Crying” As She Was Replaced By Jaya Bachchan In Sisila. That’s Sad!

In a recent revelation, veteran actor Ranjeet has disclosed that Parveen Babi was initially slated to star alongside Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan in the iconic 1981 film Silsila but was later replaced by Jaya Bachchan. Ranjeet shared insights into his relationship with Parveen Babi and recounted her disappointment upon being replaced in the movie. Parveen Babi, the renowned actress of her time, passed away in January 2005.

Speaking to ANI Ranjeet spoke about his friendship with Parveen, Ranjeet fondly described her as a “dear friend” and recalled her as a “beautiful lady” always adorned with a smile. He recounted an incident during their time in Kashmir when Parveen, visibly upset and in tears, confided in him. Ranjeet elaborated that Parveen was originally cast as the lead actress in Silsila but was eventually replaced by Jaya Bachchan due to controversy surrounding the film. He emphasized that had it not been for the controversy, Parveen would have starred alongside Rekha in the movie.

Additionally, Ranjeet shared insights into his camaraderie with the late actor Sanjeev Kumar, highlighting their regular evening meetings. He reminisced about Kumar’s modest lifestyle, contrasting it with his own lavish spending habits. Ranjeet expressed his belief in destiny, reflecting on the personal tragedies that Kumar had endured throughout his life.

Gopal Bedi, known by his screen name Ranjeet, established himself as one of Bollywood’s most prominent villains. Born in September 1941, Ranjeet has left an indelible mark on the film industry with his memorable performances in movies such as Raampur Ka Lakshman, Victoria No. 203, Dharam-Veer, and Amar Akbar Anthony.
