Ranbir Kapoor Reveals How Being Labelled As A “Cheater” Affected His Family And Mental Health

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has always been persistent in talking about his career rather than his personal life but somehow it always makes the headline. The Brahmastra actor recently revealed that dating two successful actresses had a significant effect on his public persona. Aside from that, he also spoke about how the ‘cheater’ persona, describing the effects on both him and his parents.

Ranbir Kapoor On Being Labelled As A ‘Casanova’

In a recent chat with Nikhil Kamath on his Podcast, People By WTF, Ranbir Kapoor talked about his life at the start of his career. Kapoor said that he lived in New York for 3 years before coming back to assist Sanjay Leela Bhansali on his film Black. During this time, he revealed that he didn’t date anyone and labelled himself as an Aashiq back then. But after coming back, the actor was associated with his co-actors all the time.

The actor acknowledged that his public image was naturally hampered by his following relationships with two extremely successful actresses. His relationships became an integral part of his persona, overshadowing his career accomplishments due to the media’s incessant focus on them. Kapoor stressed that he was reluctant to talk about personal topics in public, even in the face of persistent rumours and conjecture. He said he felt bad for the people involved and that he never meant to hurt anyone.

Ranbir Kapoor disclosed that he had endured the name of “cheater” for a considerable period of his life, a label that still exists now. He acknowledged that it had upset him in the past, negatively impacted his mental state, and made him feel unwelcome in the field. But acknowledging the label was a big assistance to him. Further in the podcast, the Tamasha actor also said how he tried therapy but it never worked for him as he feared opening up in front of someone else. He was seen talking more about his personal and professional life from the beginning.
