Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal turned out to be 2023’s mega blockbuster, with a buzz that still doesn’t leave it alone. After a successful run in the theatres, the film has paved its way into the OTT sector, and is now available on Netflix. The craze around the film is such, that even after watching the film for over two times in theatres, many celebrated its arrival on OTT with another watch party. Besides the theatrical appeal and storyline of the film, Animal pulled many negative remarks from a certain section of the audiences.
With conversations around feminism, toxic masculinity and daddy issues, Animal fuelled some pending conversations, lurking in the society. And while the protagonist of the Vanga film–Ranbir Kapoor remained tight lipped about the film’s controversial nature, he finally shares his bit during a recent interview, celebrating the OTT release. Speaking about toxic masculinity, Kapoor emphasised on the point that he is happy, Animal ignited healthy conversations around toxic masculinity, that never took place. Speaking about the power of cinema, the actor also mentioned that it is because of the theatrical release, that such sensitive topics were brought under spotlight, for people to finally talk about them.
