Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana set a benchmark that no film or serial has been able to reach. The lead actress Dipika Chikhlia has reacted to a new movie on Ramayan starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. Dipika firmly stated that people should stop making films on the Indian epic because they are miserably failing at it. She further gave the example of Om Raut’s Ramayana as well.

Dipika Chikhlia rose to fame with her role as Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. Her role is still etched in the minds of every Indian. However, she is not really glad about the new film being made on this Indian epic by Nitesh Tiwary. In an interview with India Today, the Ramayana star put forth her unfiltered opinions on Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film and said such films on the interpretation of Indian Epics should no longer be made. She further added that the addition of new stories, angles or looks is just messing up the essence of Ramayana. Dipika Chikhlia also gave the example of Om Raut’s Adipurush to prove her points and said that in an attempt to make it look new with additions to Saif Ali Khan’s appearance as Raavan, and made Kriti Sanon wore a pink-coloured saree.

Dipika Chikhlia was against the idea of meddling with religious texts and running the real impact of these epics. In the interview, the actress also suggested that people should tell stories of Indian freedom fighters because there are many untold stories of these unsung heroes.
