Celebrity weddings are always surrounded by a lot of buzz. Always under media scrutiny, and serving to public interest, celebrities’ weddings in India are no less than a grand festival. Next up is the wedding of Bollywood stars Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani. As per the latest update, the couple has chosen to tie the knot in an intimate two-day celebration, set to conclude on February 21 in Goa. According to previous media reports, Rakul and Jackky planned a destination wedding overseas, in the Middle East, but changed plans to promote Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Wed In India’ concept.

What Is Wed In India?

Noting the large-scale approach taken by Indian weddings, Prime Minister Modi suggested the concept of Wed In India, suggesting wealthy families do not take a flight overseas, and instead choose India’s varied states as a destination for their special day. Addressing the inaugural session of the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit at the FRI, the PM urged affluent industrialist families to host at least one wedding event in India, to promote tourism and culture.
