Rahul Banerjee Death: AICWA Demands FIR Over Delay In Medical Help

The unfortunate demise of the Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has become the talk of the town as the news spread. While it initially looked like a tragic accident, fresh reports add another layer with questions about the conflicting timelines coming up. And with each day, concerns about whether the delay and negligence played a role are grabbing more eyeballs. Read to know about the case here.

About Rahul Arunoday Banerjee

One shocking revelation in Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s case was the delay in transporting him to the hospital. For the unversed, the actor accidentally downed in Talsari near the Odisha-Bengal border was allegedly rushed to the nearest hospital, which was the Digsha State General Hospital. The distance between the beach and the hospital is around 7 kms and takes about 15-20 minutes to reach.

But the police stated something else. While the drowning incident happened around 5:30 PM, it wasn’t until 6:40 PM that Rahul Banerjee was taken to the hospital, making it a delay of over an hour. And given his condition after being in water for a long time, every second counted. This delay has now become a key point, with the authorities trying to find out what caused this, questioning whether there was confusion at the scene or just a lack of immediate medical response.

As per some members of the production team, the actor was rescued within minutes of falling into the sea. However, local witnesses, like the fishermen who were travelling at a distance, claimed that Rahul was missing for a long time before he was saved. The witness accounts seemed better aligned with the autopsy findings. The actor’s lungs were full of saline water and sand, indicating that he had battled to breathe underwater for a long time. According to reports, sand was found in his oesophagus and stomach, which is usual in cases of protracted submersion.
