It’s hard to spot a woman in this country who hasn’t been s*xualised by men even once in her lifetime. Similarly, for many years mutiple actresses have been subjected to disgusting things just make them more appealing to the male gaze. Recently Radhika Apte went viral for sharing an incident that happened with her while working on a South Indian film where she was asked to add padding to particular body parts. Read ahead to know what exactly happened.

Radhika Apte Shares Her Experience Working In South Indian Films

Radhika Apte spoke about a particular disgusting experience with Saali Mohabbat co-star Divyenndu Sharma during their conversation with Screen. She reflected on working in some of the South Indian films because she really needed money. While talking about her experience, the actress highlighted the fact that she wasn’t trying to blanket those films because they have multiple good movies and that there is amazing cinema in each industry.

The Andhadhun star stated that she had a tough time working in a few South Indian movies. She recalled doing a film where she realised she was the only woman on set while they were shooting in a small town. Radhika added that they wanted to add more padding to her bre*sts and bum to which she counter-questioned, “How much more padding?” Further Radhika firmly asked a person to tell the director that she would not add more padding. The actress shared that at the time she didn’t have any manager or agent, adding that the team present there was full of men.

This Is Disgusting!

Radhika Apte sharing her experience just serves as an example of how disgusting such practices can be. Although she opened up about it after years, it has prompted us to question how many people must have faced this and haven’t spoken about it yet. These things still happen on a micro level even today. The hope that such practices disappear and that there will be a safe working environment for women seems bleak. We wish that this hope gets restored but until then we should laud women like Radhika Apte for openly speaking about such incidents and holding people accountable for the same.
