R Parthiban About Trisha
On March 11, R Parthiban took to his X account and wrote, “I’m splitting the single video recording into two parts owing to its length, not to split anything else (anyone). I recognise, as I explain, that there will be side effects that take centre stage. But I am not going to talk about it anymore. Only conclusion: this is good for us. Thank you!” Trisha has not yet commented on the matter. The controversy began when the filmmaker, in a rapid-fire segment at an award function, reacted to a picture of Trisha on screen by saying, “Kundhavai has to be made to sit at home.”

For the unversed, this referred to the character she played in Ponniyin Selvan, the two-part period film directed by Mani Ratnam. This comment comes days after Vijay and Trisha were seen appearing for a wedding reception in Chennai together amid the former’s divorce case with his wife, Sankgeetha. The plea involves dissolution of marriage, permanent alimony, and the right to live in her matrimonial home.

Parthiban later expressed regret, saying that his remark was an instant made as rhyming wordplay after the actor was prompted with the name, ‘Kundhavai.’ He also alleged that he had asked the event organisers not to use that portion of the recording, but that a privately recorded clip was later leaked. Trisha hit back, accusing him of orchestrating the episode and saying that crude words without information say more about the speaker than the person they were aimed at.
