R Madhavan Addresses Dhurandhar 2’s Smoking Scene Controversy! Says THIS
R. Madhavan, who starred in Dhurandhar 2 has shared a video clarifying the smoking scene in the project!
As much as Dhurandhar: The Revenge is receiving praise from people, it has also garnered backlash from certain sections. President of the Sikhs in Maharashtra organisation and Shiv Sena affiliate (Shinde faction), Gurjyot Singh Keer, alleged that the scene in which R. Madhavan’s character is seen smoking a cigarette while reciting a sacred verse from the Dasam Granth was found offensive. According to the report, an FIR was also filed against the filmmakers for the same. Now, clarifying what was offered behind the scenes, Madhavan shed light on the same.
R. Madhavan On The Backlash Over Said Scene In Dhurandhar: The Revenge
R Madhavan shared a video on Instagram in which he first thanked the audience for their love for the film. Then he addressed the controversy involving his character smoking a cigarette while reciting lines from Guru Gobind Singh ji’ Dasam Granth. He expressed his certainty, stating that while filming the scene, director Aditya Dhar told him to put down the cigarette well in advance before delivering the lines. The filmmaker told him that no smoke would come out of his mouth or appear on screen and that there would be no cigarette in his hand because it is very pure and sacred for them.

What Else Did He Say?
R. Madhavan further mentioned that they are with the entire Sikh community and they have a lot of respect for them. The actor also revealed that before every film released, he personally visited the Golden Temple. He asked for forgiveness from the people who were hurt knowingly or unknowingly. He assured them that this was never their intention. Madhavan then asked people to stay happy and enjoy Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
