The Bridgerton-shaped hole in our lives has been filled for the time being by the prequel spin-off of the regency-era romance drama Queen Charlotte: A Brigderton Story. Created by Shonda Rhimes, this show follows the journey of Queen Charlotte and King George III. If you couldn’t have enough of Queen Charlotte and her rise to power and prominence, guess what? There might be more to come. Just days after the limited drama was released, the internet has been buzzing about a sequel to the prequel spin-off. Amid the buzz, the creator of the show, scriptwriter Shonda Rhimes has revealed that she is open to a second season of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
As reported by Deadline, in a conversation with EW, Shonda Rhimes revealed that while she’s not having conversations about the second season of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story as she believes that the limited series tells a very close-ended story of Queen Charlotte and King George III but she isn’t opposed to another season “because I never know”. The creator of the show said that even though the story is complete, she wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a second season. She further added that the series is the complete story of imperfect and complicated romance!

TBH, we’re super duper excited to watch another season of Queen Charlotte: A Brigderton Story. We couldn’t have asked for more as we wait for Bridgerton Season 3 to drop. And if the rumour mill is to be believed, season 3 of Bridgerton will hopefully drop in the second half of 2023 as the shoot for the show began in the summer of 2022.

For the unversed, the prequel spin-off limited series follows the story of Queen Charlotte, the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland and the wife of King George III. It showcases India Amarteifio as the young Queen Charlotte, Corey Mylchreest as the young King George III, Arsema Thomas as young Agatha aka Lady Danbury while Julie Andrews voices Lady Whistledown. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was released on Netflix on May 4.
