Producer Responds To Nepotism Debate Over ALLDAY PROJECT Annie’s Gayo Daejejeon MC Role
Recently, MBC revealed that Annie of ALLDAY PROJECT would take on the prestigious role of MC for Gayo Daejejeon, which is a major year-end music event. This decision surprised fans, as Annie, a rookie, has never hosted a show before. The decision to choose a newcomer in such a big position raised eyebrows. It also added fuel to the fire because currently the discussion over nepotism is going on.
Following which, the producer of Gayo Daejejeon defended the decision in a recent interview with Sports Chosun. He explained that due to the global rise of K-pop, there was a need for a fresh and attention-grabbing face. The producer further described Annie as a charismatic and smart leader who quickly gained popularity after her debut. According to him, her presence and confidence made her the perfect fit to represent the new era of K-pop and bring energy to the event alongside two other MCs.

Despite the producer’s statement, many fans remain unconvinced. They took to social media platforms like X and buzzed with criticism. Internet users also added that members of Babymonster or ILLIT, or established stars like Wonyoung or Karina, would have been better choices due to their global recognition or experience. Fans feel that Annie’s selection takes away the spotlight from “deserving” artists.
