Priyanka Chopra Stands By ‘Her Union’, Extends Support To Ongoing SAG-AFTRA Strike In Hollywood
Glad she took a stand!

For the first time in 63 years, Hollywood actors have gone on a strike to join the already protesting screenwriters and other artists on the picket lines. Several major Hollywood celebrities have also extended their support in this strike which demands higher pay in this era of booming streaming services and also protection against AI which threatens the jobs of many working behind the camera. Priyanka Chopra also extended her support to the protesting members of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists AKA SAG-AFTRA members.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Priyanka Chopra shared a picture which read, “SAG-AFTRA Strong.” In the caption of the post, she wrote that she stands by ‘her’ union and her colleagues, that they are all standing in solidarity to build a better tomorrow. She also added a heart emoji and a folding hand emoji.

American actress YaYa Gosselin who has starred in popular shows and movies like 13 Reasons Why and We Can Be Heroes commented on Priyanka Chopra’s post with a fist emoji implying that she, too, is in this strike with her. Many of her fans appreciated her for extending her support to this strike.
Reports also claim due to this ongoing strike, Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming film Heads Of State will also be postponed until after a deal is struck between the protesting SAG-AFTRA members and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) which a representative of the production houses and streaming platforms.

One of the striking members of the SAG-AFTRA, Susan Sarandon, has said that they are getting compensated on the basis of an old contract which is not suitable in this ‘new type of business’. The strike first took to streets outside the office of big studios and streaming platforms on May 2. Recently, even the cast of the Christopher Nolan film, Oppenheimer, walked out before the film’s UK premiere to join the striking members.
