Do You Wanna Partner Review: Tamannaah Bhatia, Diana Penty Bring Their Best But The Script Is Totally Bland!

Prime-Video-Do-You-Wanna-Partner-review-Tamannaah-Bhatia-Diana-Penty

We’ve all heard stories about women fighting to make their mark in a man’s world, and trust me, it’s way harder than it sounds. Every day is a struggle to prove they belong. And Prime Video’s Do You Wanna Partner, starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty, explores this angle. After watching all eight episodes, here’s what I liked and disliked. So, read on to know all about it.

Plot Of Do You Wanna Partner

The story kicks off with Shikha Roy Chaudhary (Tamannaah Bhatia) losing her job when her company gets taken over. Following which, she decides to chase her late father’s dream of crafting her own beer. With the thought in her mind, she tries to convince her best friend, Anahita (Diana Penty), to join her. But it isn’t as easy as it seems, as Anahita is killing it at her job. However, things take a turn when her promotion is snagged by a guy who questions her hard work and worth. It frustrates her and then she makes a decision and agrees to turn Shikha Roy Chaudhary’s beer idea into a real business.

Joining the duo is Bobby Bagga (Nakul Mehta), who is a brewer. But the important and saddest part is no one wants to invest in two women starting a business. Um, yeah! So, what are they going to do? Well, a blessing in disguise, Anahita gets a sore throat which makes her voice sound raspy and, weirdly, people on the phone mistake her for a man and suddenly take her seriously. Shocked to see the change in behaviour, they play along with it. Okay, so now things are getting serious but money is still an issue. So, they meet Laila Singh (Shweta Tiwari), a shady yet charming woman who loans them 2 crore.

And well, soon things become bright, as with clever marketing, they launch their beer successfully. But not for a long time. As a man named Walia, who stole Shikha Roy Chaudhary ’s dad’s beer recipe comes back and uses every dirty trick to crush them down. To know what happens next, you need to watch the series.

Performances

Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty give their all to bring Shikha and Anahita to life. Tamannaah shines Shikha who is fiery, flawed and real. Especially when she makes questionable choices or argues with Diana, her performance is so natural that I can’t help but feel pissed at her.

Talking about Diana, she is the opposite of her friend and thus we get to see a nice dynamic between them. She shines as Anahita and nails all kinds of emotions on screen. Their chemistry feels natural and makes you root for them. Onto the supporting cast, Nakul Mehta’s Bobby is fun and quirky and Shweta Tiwari as Laila steals the show.

Then, we have Ranvijay’s character, Kabir, Shikha’s partner, who has a sweet personality and honestly, I loved their chemistry. Now, let’s talk about another key figure in the series, which is Neeraj Kabi, aka Walia, whose character is so over-the-top that it made me feel like I was watching a Disney villain.

Verdict: Tamannaah Bhatia And Diana Penty Lead The Series With Heart, But Weak Writing Holds It Back

With a great cast and cool concept, Do You Wanna Partner could have been a great watch but it stumbles. The visuals are nice, and the music is catchy and unique but the writing? It just falls flat. The plot jumps from one moment to another and is a no-brainer. At moments I felt like that the show tried to be extremely witty and emotional but sometimes felt like it was trying too hard to be cool. Some scenes are also predictable. Still, the cast who gave it all keeps you watching till the end.

Also, the show aimed to tackle s*xism and female empowerment, but it doesn’t go deep enough. The challenges faced by Shikha and Anahita often feel surface-level. Overall, It’s a one-time watch and is perfect for a lazy weekend when you don’t want to think too hard. So, let us know if you are going to give it a shot or not.
