As the effects of the Pahalgam terror attack continue to echo throughout the nation, many are wondering why a number of Bollywood stars have opted to remain silent. One of the notable exceptions, however, is Preity Zinta’s. The actress recently waded into the controversy in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on X (formerly Twitter), where she answered frankly a fan’s question regarding the silence from Bollywood regarding the terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Preity Zinta Reacts To Bollywood’s Silence On Pahalgam Terror Attack
The fan questioned Preity about why most of her fellow industry members have not come forward to condemn the attack or show their support for the Indian armed forces. The Veer-Zaara actress responded with a direct and heartfelt answer, stating she couldn’t speak on anyone else’s behalf but explained why the situation feels personal to her.
She referred to her life in a military background, stressing that being a fauji kid provided her with an inner emotional bond with such tragedies. Preity Zinta revealed that she has seen the sacrifices and resilience of army families up close, and this is why she is so vocal on such issues. Although she recognised that not everybody will be comfortable responding in public, she stressed how profoundly these incidents impact military families. She also pointed out the fortitude and resilience of families who lose members serving their country, mothers who send their sons off to fight, spouses who will never see their loved ones again, and children raised without a parent.
According to Preity Zinta, her lived experience has made it impossible for her to remain quiet even if others opt otherwise. Her remarks arrive at a time when a number of big Bollywood names, among them Aamir Khan, have found themselves under public scrutiny. Aamir, specifically, was accused of taking a salute to Operation Sindoor on social networking sites hours before releasing the trailer of his new movie Sitaare Zameen Par, an act many felt was insensitive.
