Parmeet Sethi recently had a touching chat with his son, Aaryamann Sethi on his YouTube channel, where he spoke openly about his personal life, initial struggles, and marital problems in his marriage to actress Archana Puran Singh. He revealed that he used to have intense fights with Archana Puran Singh and was also struggling in his marriage due to the bickering between them.
Parmeet Sethi On Fights With Archana Puran Singh
During the conversation, Parmeet Sethi spoke about his childhood, being raised in Delhi in a refugee household. His father had migrated to India from Gujranwala (now Pakistan) following the Partition. Though Parmeet was brought up in a good home, he conceded that there was never enough money. Even as a college student in Mumbai, he used to sell shirts of his uncle’s factory in Delhi to help keep the family’s purse strings loose.
Parmeet remembered one of the most agonising experiences related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, when he lost his uncle and his most intimate cousin. It had a deep impact on him, and he remembered how he used to decide to shave his hair off and take off his turban just after that. He said that his father could not accept it, but the trauma left him feeling it wasn’t safe to don his identity.
He also mentioned a frightening incident when his family had a narrow escape from a mob assault amidst the riots. A fellow neighbour from the army came to their rescue by standing atop their building with a gun, while Parmeet’s father supplied him with bullets to guard their house.
Parmeet then spoke about his marriage with Archana Puran Singh, stating that they had a phase where both were emotionally drained and constantly fought. He attributed the Art of Living course, which Archana had told him to go for, to letting loose bottled-up feelings. The experience enabled him to mourn losses he hadn’t really healed from, and brought him some much-needed calm.
