The politician, who is a member of Parliament, argued about this issue during a recent session and said that the caregiving responsibilities for a child must be equally shared between both parents. Parineeti Chopra shared his speech in the Parliament and wrote, “My dearest husband. You spoke today not just as an MP, but as the dad I see every single day. We have discussed this so many times. How our baby deserves both parents to be present, to the best of their ability.” She further said that his statement wasn’t just about a policy, but a gesture each time he showed up for their baby without being asked. She concluded by stating that parenting was shared and not assigned.
Chopra further said that a baby’s birth is not just about the birth of the mother but also the father. She noted that he brought this reality into Parliament, a space where such issues truly deserve attention. She added that if this leads to even a few parents, particularly mothers, feeling more supported, it would be a meaningful step forward. Parineeti expressed gratitude for the kind of father and leader he is, saying she witnesses it every day, and now the country will too, ending on a note of pride.
