Pakistani Actress Slammed For Celebrating Diwali, Wearing Saree. How Is Promoting Peace A Bad Thing?

Recently, a Pakistani actress was slammed and criticised for merely celebrating Diwali and promoting the idea of respecting every religion. Why Was The Pakistani Actress Bashed?

Pakistani actress Sonya Hussaiyn was criticised for celebrating the Hindu festival, Diwali, also known as the festival of lights. The actress posted a video on social media celebrating the occasion at her friend’s place. Sonya dressed up in a beautiful saree and also flaunted a bindi, which Indian women commonly wear on the forehead. Even her attire triggered social media users. In the caption, Sonya Hussyn spoke about celebrating unity and the minority who are important to their country. The actress also urged people to embrace every religion and culture. Sonya Hussaiyn also expressed her belief in making Pakistan feel like home to every sect of people living in it.

However, her followers were not very pleased with the post and instead criticised her for celebrating a Hindu festival. They even questioned if she was a real Muslim. One user wrote that Hindus don’t celebrate Muslim festivals and then unfollowed the actress. However, some users hailed this move by Sonya Hussaiyn and wrote that the video she posted was beautiful. They also appreciated Sonya’s look in a saree and called her pretty.

Well, celebrating a festival or being a part of the celebration at a friend’s place is completely a person’s choice, and why should anyone make a big deal out of it? It is not harming anyone but the post promotes peace, which is of course a nice thing. However, some people just choose to not understand this.
