The actress faced a heated controversy after she talked about her family history. She then penned an apology note. Our Sticky Love Actor Ha Young Pens Apology Note
During an episode of KBS’s Problem Child in House, Ha Young spoke with pride about her family’s long medical background that spanned four generations. She explained that her great-grandfather had studied in Japan and later opened one of the early Western-style medical clinics in Seoul. Viewers soon linked the relative to a man named Ahn Sang-ho. Old records from the colonial period showed that he had served on the council of a group formed in 1916 that supported Japanese rule.
At first, Ha Young’s agency called the reports baseless. One day later the company took back that statement and said sorry for reacting too quickly without checking the facts carefully. The apology from the agency did little to calm the situation. Several brands and advertisers began removing or hiding her commercial videos and ads. Planned press interviews and roundtable talks meant to promote her projects, including Our Sticky Love, were either cancelled or made much smaller.
On August 12, Ha Young shared a handwritten apology on her Instagram account. In it she explained that she had earlier spoken proudly about her great-grandfather without knowing the full truth about his life. After looking into the matter herself, she learned that he had taken part in pro-Japanese activities during the time Korea was under colonial rule.

She said she felt deep regret for her lack of knowledge and for the agency’s first denial. The actor accepted full blame for the confusion and also expressed sorrow for creating trouble. Ha Young promised to study history more carefully from now on and to show lasting respect for those who fought for independence.
