Siddharth and Jimmy Shergill-led Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War has recently found itself in the middle of a controversy. This happened after an Indian Army veteran named Colonel Venbu Shankar pointed out a huge mistake in the film, claiming that the National Flag’s draping over the coffin of Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja was “incorrectly done.” Read to know more about this controversy here.

In a screenshot shared by Venbu Shankar on Instagram, Mihir Ahuja is featured as Flying Officer C.H. Bal Reddy aka Baldy and Abhay Verma as Flying Officer Rajpal Singh Dhaliwal, aka Dhali. During this scene, the two were seen carrying Ajay Ahuja’s coffin as pallbearers, to which the Indian Army veteran claimed that though the coffin was draped in the Indian National Flag, the way that it was placed was not consistent with the Flag Code of India. The coffin from the series read Head and had the service particulars of the officer, with the green portion of the flag being visible. He wrote that this was not the correct way of draping the coffin as per the Flag Code of India.

Venbu Shankar further stated that the saffron side should have been towards the head and even expressed shock at how the authorities at the service Headquarters and the military advisors missed this. He further asked if someone could connect with the producer to digitally edit this colour, and suspend the series’ Netflix streaming until an apology was issued in the mainstream media. The role of Leader Ajay Ahuja is played by actor Siddharth in the series, which brings the story of a Kargil War hero in front of the new generation.
