The debate of insiders vs outsiders in the Bollywood industry has been a long one, with many coming forward with their experiences. While many actors like Rajkummar Rao and Kartik Aaryan have spoken about the same, this time, Nushrratt Bharuccha has come forward and confessed her views. She said that her contemporaries, Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor, had more film opportunities than her and that steering the industry waters had been harder for her.
Nushrratt Bharuccha On Nepotism
During a recent conversation on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube podcast, Nushrratt expressed disappointment with the way Bollywood treated outsiders, or those who don’t have any prior relationship with the industry. She said, “They have an advantage because they know the industry and they know the people. If not them, then their parents know. Due to that, they can reach places that I can’t, and they can knock on doors which I never knew existed.”
She, however, didn’t blame her contemporaries, Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor, for getting more opportunities. Bharuccha also refused to call them ‘nepo kids’ because she felt that everyone had their struggles and pressures. She went on to elaborate on a point she made about asking people for a job and how tough it is to create connections and relationships, although she did list certain names that assisted her on her quest.
Nushrratt said that while she was reaching out to many people for word, director Kabir Khan was the one to call her back. She also mentioned the names of Luv Ranjan, Hansal Mehta, and Vishal Furai, who still wanted to work with her, and mentioned that they were like family to her.
