Lyricist Raqueeb Breaks Silence On Backlash Over Nora Fatehi Song, Says He Objected It

There has been a lot of discourse around the Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt song ‘Sarke Chunar’ from the film KD: The Devil. Many people have called for a ban on the song, and the writer Raqueeb has also received severe backlash for the same. And finally the lyricist has broken his silence on the criticism. In his defense, he has said that the lyrics were not written by him but was simply translated. Read here for more.

Lyricist Raqueeb Reacts To Backlash!

The lyricist Raqueeb Alam has received a lot of criticism for the Nora Fatehi song ‘Sarke Chunar’. However, he has finally reacted to the backlash. As per an interview with HT City, Raqueeb clarified that the lyrics of the song were not written by him. According to the interview, the lyrics were written by director of the film Prem and it was penned in Kannada. Raqueeb Alam also added that he had refused to translate the song, and had told them that lyrics would not work, and would be censored. However, he was asked to do a literal change of the lyrics from Kannada to Hindi. In his interview, he also added that the words like ‘Choosega’ and ‘Chaatega’ were in the original song as well. The lyricists also acknowledged that the song had double meaning, and said that it is only in the end that the song reveals it was about an alchohol bottle.

Raqueeb Alam also said that he had opposed to the lyrics and had asked them to not go ahead with it. The lyricist also added that he would not write such songs as he was known for good songs in films like Pushpa and Ram Charan’s Peddi. He feels ashamed due to a song like ‘Sarke Chunar’, as per the interview.
