Nora Fatehi Talks About Feminism Again
Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi recently talked about feminism again. In a podcast with Lily Singh, she first addressed the podcast that she did in 2024, and the controversial statement on feminism that got her extreme backlash. While talking about it, Nora Fatehi said that certain cuts and reels from it came on social media, and it got blown up. As per her, people missed the context. Fatehi went on to talk about what she advocates for and said that she was against extremism.
Nora Fatehi recalled her childhood and being brought up by a single parent. The actor said that she missed the presence of both parents and the experience of having a nuclear family, attention, discipline and love. She also acknowledged opinions where people advocate for doing everything alone. However, while the actor agrees with it, she opined that it was not good for the child, as she had personally experienced it. Nora Fatehi said that she would hate a world where people don’t advocate for a nuclear family. She further advocated for balance, where men step up and create a world where men are held accountable. Nora Fatehi firmly stood for women’s financial independence and strong identity, but she also advocated for a balance between the two.

What Did She Say?
For the unversed, in a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, while talking about men and women, and their need for depending on each other, Nora Fatehi said, “They need each other. This idea of I don’t need anybody, feminism, I don’t believe in this sh*it. Feminism f*ked up the society.” Fatehi also added that she did not agree with the idea of being independent and not having kids or marriage, and not having the male-female dynamics with their respective gender roles. While the actor opined that women should have a life and they should go to work, she also added that women should be ready to take up responsibilities as a mother, wife, too, just like a man should be ready to take on the role of bread-winner, father, and husband. She believes it to be the normal way of thinking. She reiterated feminism f*ked it up. Nora Fatehi said that everyone is equal in sentimental things, but in social aspects, everyone plays their part.

Well, we believe that the logic, understanding and clarity around feminism have been completely missing from these statements. Feminism is and always has been about the right to choose, and if a woman chooses not to get married, then so be it. If she chooses not to have a kid, then it’s her bodily choice. It’s feminism that gave women the voice to speak up for themselves, and it’s exactly why Nora Fatehi also has the opportunity to do and say things that she thinks are right! The context, however, was not missed; the concept was rather misconstrued in these statements.
