The prestigious IIFA Awards 2025 happened on Sunday, March 9, and fans have been loving the snippets of celebs enjoying from the show. From Kareena Kapoor Khan shaking a leg on her grandfather Raj Kapoor’s songs, to Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic appearance, we are full of love. But this year, the list of award recipients surprised us too in a good way. 17-year-old Nitanshi Goel winning the best actress award for Laapataa Ladies was the highlight of the evening.
Nitanshi Goel Wins Best Actress At IIFA
Nitanshi Goel made her debut with Kiran Rao’s acclaimed film Lapataa Ladies and won everyone’s hearts with her innocence and superb acting. Her portrayal of Phool Kumari in the film won her the best actress in a leading role awards at IIFA. Veterans Boman Irani and Bobby Deol presented her with the award as she burst into tears of her big achievements. In her speech, Nitanshi almost choked due to her tears while thanking the team and her family.
The 17-year-old beat Alia Bhatt (Jigra), Katrina Kaif (Merry Christmas), Yami Gautam (Article 370), and Shraddha Kapoor (Stree 2). During a conversation with ANI, she said, “I was hoping Laapataa Ladies would win big, but I didn’t think I would win myself. The other nominees were incredible, and I’m a huge fan of all of them. I’m truly overwhelmed by the love I’ve received.”

When asked which actor she wanted to collaborate with next, Goel mentioned how Shah Rukh Khan and Kartik Aryan topped her list. The film, which also stars Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Ravi Kishan, has received accolades for its engaging tale and performances.
