Exclusive: Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia: “Finding A House In Mumbai As An Actor Is Very Hard”
In a recent interview with The Male Feminist, Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia opens up about the struggles of finding a house in Mumbai as an actor.

Finding a place to live in Mumbai is hard. You’ve experienced it, I’ve experienced it, we all have. The trauma attached to looking at a billion apartments and getting heartbroken every time, whether due to the abhorrent rents, shady locality, or unnecessary rules, is a reality for everyone who comes to this city to fulfill their dreams. And it seems like even actors are not immune to the struggles of finding a place to live in Mumbai! In a recent interview with The Male Feminist hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan, actress Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia shared the same experience that we all go through when hunting for a flat.
Why Nimrrit Thinks It’s Difficult To Find A House In Mumbai
Nimrrit shared how she had to struggle and face problems every time she moved and looked for another house in Mumbai. Nimrrit also talked about why she thinks this problem exists: “Being an actor is a seasonal job,” The actress says. You don’t know when you are working and when not, the nature of this job makes a lot of homeowners hesitant in renting you the flat.

lists is the mindset of the homeowners, “If a (bachelor) girl is living here, then people think guys must be at her place all the time.” She also agrees that this is not a problem exclusive to only actors but rather for every single woman living in Mumbai.
However despite the hardships of finding a home to live in Mumbai. Nimrrit also shared how liberating it is for her to live in this city as a woman. She says that safety is paramount for a woman and how Mumbai as a city provides it. “I have the freedom and safety to take an auto here at 3am just to grab tea and snacks in my night suit,” The actress shares how it’s small things like these that make her feel liberated in this city.
