Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Sentenced To House Arrest For Not Registering As Sex Offender In California
Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty has been sentenced to house confinement for a year because he did not register himself as a sex offender. In the 90s, he was convicted of rape in New York and was also sent to prison for four years. He was supposed to register himself as a sex offender wherever he resided as a part of that conviction. He and Nicki are currently living in California. He also has to pay a fine of $55,000 and is put on three years’ probation as well.
As per a report by TMZ, the prosecutors are demanding that a year of confinement in Nicki Minaj’s lavish mansion does not do justice and that he should rather be sentenced to jail. The federal prosecutors also have pointed out that the locality where Nicki’s house is situated is a ‘gated affluent community’ and includes lavish amenities like a pool, her own music studio and a backyard as well. These luxuries are not quite in sync with what they think the punishment should look like.

In his defence, Kenneth Petty said that he was not aware of the ‘specific requirements’ of getting himself registered after he left New York. But the prosecutors have countered him by stating that he definitely knew about the rules as he was being reminded of the same for around 20 decades.
As per a report by Rolling Stones, Nicki was not present at her husband’s hearing but she did write a letter to his lawyers and told them that sending Kenneth to prison would ‘traumatise’ their two-year-old son. She also wrote that she has known him for two decades now and that she has seen him evolve as well.

The victim, whom Kenneth was convicted of raping, also filed a lawsuit against him and Nicki and alleged that they both had harassed and threatened her.
