Netizens Worried For NewJeans After They Get Barred From Holding Independent Activities By Court

NewJeans recently lost a lawsuit against their former agency, ADOR. The highly anticipated verdict was delivered a few days ago, and it upheld ADOR’s exclusive contract with the girl group, which is valid till 2029. While the group has filed for an appeal, a new report by a Korean publication reveals that if they lose the appeal, NewJeans will not be able to hold independent activities till 2029. NewJeans Banned From Holding Independent Activities After Lawsuit Verdict

A South Korean court in Seoul recently ruled against NewJeans’ attempt to terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR. MBN reports that this verdict prevents the girls from holding any group or individual activities without the consent of ADOR for the next few years.

The decision came after ADOR initially filed a lawsuit against NewJeans following the K-pop girl group’s announcement that they would be leaving their label. The group accused ADOR of mistreating them and sabotaging their career. The controversy began after Min Hee Jin, ADOR’s creative director and former CEO, was fired by HYBE, allegedly for orchestrating a coup against the company.

Min Hee Jin, however, denied all accusations, and NewJeans also announced their departure from ADOR following this. Since then, the group has held one concert titled ‘Pit Stop’ before the court banned them from conducting any promotional activities without ADOR.

Netizens have been following this case closely, and many have weighed in on their opinions on the situation. Some feel that this long hiatus till 2029 will affect the girls’ careers negatively, while others say that NewJeans are too talented to be forgotten. Lawyers predict that the case might go to the Supreme Court, and if it does, the verdict may take years to be announced.
