NewJeans’ Appeal For Independent Activities Rejected By Court: Reports

There’s a new update on the ongoing legal battle between NewJeans and Ador. Reports stated that NewJeans’ effort to work independently, without their agency ADOR, has been completely stopped. This happened after a second court ruling sided with the label. Read on to know more about it.

Court Again Once Again Rules Against NewJeans

As per SPOTV News’s reports, the Seoul High Court dismissed an appeal made by the NewJeans members. This means the group cannot pursue separate activities without ADOR’s approval. The Seoul Central District Court had already accepted ADOR’s request to stop the members from signing advertising contracts on their own. This first ruling was in ADOR’s favour. The members then challenged this decision. But the court again ruled for the agency during the appeal trial.

Previously, the Seoul Central District Court’s 52nd Civil Affairs Department made a ruling. It stated that NewJeans must stop all independent activities unless they consult with ADOR. The court also added a significant penalty. If the group violates this rule, they will face a fine of ₩1 billion KRW, which is about ₹6 crore, for each incident.

NewJeans has stated a strong desire not to return to ADOR. During a recent court hearing about the group’s contract, the members expressed a complete loss of trust. They said their relationship with ADOR had gone too far to be fixed. Therefore, a reconciliation between the group and the agency is very unlikely.

It became a hot topic on the internet. Some praised the move, while others opposed it. This move was an attempt by the group to create their own identity apart from ADOR. ADOR quickly responded to this and filed a lawsuit.
