In the latest development of the legal dispute between NewJeans and ADOR, the K-pop group has been banned from doing independent activities without the consent of their management company, ADOR. According to a South Korean legal community, it was revealed that the members had not filed an appeal for the court injunction related to the decision about their independent activities. An appeal has to be filed one week after the injunction is announced.

Court’s Final Decision On ADOR And NewJeans’ Independent Activities

NewJeans did not file a re-appeal to the decision of the court because they wanted to “preserve the agency’s status and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts.” Previously, the South Korean court hearing NewJeans’ and ADOR’s dispute case had dismissed the member’s objection to the provisional injunction. ADOR’s injunction was, however, accepted while the K-pop group found all its appeals rejected.

In their ruling, the courts also declared that if NewJeans can leave their contract with ADOR, the members will be able to monetise their independent activities. However, the agency ADOR will have to suffer serious damages and lose all its clients and investment deals.

Seoul High Court further elaborates that if NewJeans’ injunction appeal is accepted, the members can proceed with their activities, but they must comply with their exclusive contracts.

The legal dispute between NewJeans and ADOR started when the group accused the company of treating them unfairly and undermining the group. The girl group then left their agency with their creative director, Min Hee Jin and have been trying to work independently. Despite the result of the legal dispute, NewJeans has confirmed that they will not be returning to ADOR.
