The ongoing legal battle between K-pop girl group NewJeans, their agency ADOR, and parent company HYBE has been a hot topic for months. Now, the situation has taken a surprising turn. NewJeans Reemerges As NJZ
On February 7th, NewJeans, now known as NJZ, announced their new name on their official social media accounts. The caption reads, “Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein’s new group name: NJZ. Get ready for an exciting journey with NJZ in 2025! Stay tuned!” Take a look at the post below!

Reacting to the post, several fans beamed with joy. One user wrote, “ARE THEY FINALLY GETTING DARK CONCEPTS?” While others asked, “Isn’t the name gonna cause more issues with Hybe? Is it a kpop grp or global grp😭?” For the unversed, this name change comes after a dispute with their agency, ADOR, over their exclusive contracts. Last November, NJZ announced they were terminating their contract with ADOR.
In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit in December and claimed that the contracts are valid and that NJZ’s claim of breach of trust isn’t a good enough reason to break the contract. The first hearing for ADOR’s injunction is scheduled for March 7th, and the first hearing for the lawsuit about the contracts is scheduled for April 3rd. Bunnies (their fandom name) are eagerly watching these updates and can’t wait to see what happens to NJZ. What are your thoughts on their new name?
