As brown women, most of us vicariously live our dream of going to a cliché high school right out of the films via Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s character Devi Vishwakumar in Never Have I Ever. That’s also why we’re still not ready to accept that this show is coming to an end with Season 4 which is currently streaming on Netflix. So in case you’re not feeling very motivated to watch this season, we might be able to give you some motivation. Remember the shot of Maitrey’s Devi grooving to a song with her cousin Kamala, dressed in an Indian outfit? Well, you’ll be surprised to know that these cousins from the show were grooving to Rashmika Mandanna and Allu Arjun’s song ‘Saami Saami’!
Yes, you read that right. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s Devi and Richa Moorjani’s Kamala groove to Rashmika Mandanna and Allu Arjun starrer film Pushpa: The Rise song titled ‘Saami Saami’. A video of the cousin sisters shaking a leg to ‘Sami Sami’ in the final season of Never Have I Ever has emerged on social media and it looks like the sister aced their moves because we’re total fans of them! The sisters have officially given us all the motivation we need to watch season 4 even though our hearts hurt as the show comes to an end. Don’t believe us? For the unversed, Never Have I Ever is a comedy-drama series that follows an Indian-American girl, Devi Vishwakumar played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as she struggles to deal with her father’s death as she navigates through her teen years in high school. Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever premiered on Netflix in 2020. The season 4 of the show was released on the OTT platform on June 8. The series is loosely based on Mindy Kaling’s experiences as a kid.
