Squid Game Actor Park Sung Hoon To Star In New Romance K-Drama
Following his controversy, the Squid Game actor has relatively maintained a low profile in the industry. However, it was recently revealed that Park Sung Hoon is starring in JTBC’s upcoming romance K-drama titled Efficient Dating For Singles. The show is based on a webtoon of the same name and will premiere on February 28, 2026.
Park Sung Hoon will play the role of Song Tae Seop alongside actress Han Ji Min, who stars as Lee Ui Young in the drama. The production team revealed that they hope Efficient Dating For Singles can serve as a dating textbook for people in their 20s and 30s who are looking to establish a balance between work and romance.
Park’s casting, however, was met with scrutiny. Earlier this year, the actor was replaced on Netflix’s popular show Bon Appétit, Your Majesty by Lee Chaemin. Netizens demand that Sung Hoom be removed from the upcoming show as well.
K-drama watchers took to social media to express their disappointment with the show’s casting, stating that due to Park Sung Hoon’s past scandal, they cannot view him as a romantic lead. “Since it’s a ‘romance’ genre mainly watched by women, I understand the reactions,” said one person.
Following his adult video scandal, Park Sung Hoon released an apology clarifying the incident. “I found a problematic photo in my DMs as I was rushing to go out around lunchtime to go to my schedule,” he said. The actor then claimed that he thought the shocking photo could cause problems and accidentally posted it online while sharing the picture with the organisers.
