Netflix’s animated film, KPop Demon Hunters, is currently very popular, and K-pop fans are truly enjoying it. From its visuals to its storyline, viewers have been hooked and have even connected certain songs and scenes in the show to their favourite K-pop groups. Now, the people behind the show, including directors and animators, have shared how they got ideas from real-life K-pop idols.

Idols Influence On The Characters Of KPop Demon Hunters

According to OSEN, Chris Appelhans, the creator of KPop Demon Hunters, shared how the K-pop group BTS inspired his project. The creator remembered watching an online BTS concert where millions of fans sang and danced to the song Dynamite. This built a sense of unity and hope worldwide and motivated them to make a fun, action-packed movie that includes modern trends and shows how music can connect people and help them through tough times. Wow! Dynamite really has a huge impact.

The creators also drew inspiration from specific K-pop idols for the characters’ designs and personalities. It was revealed that BTS member Jimin was a big influence on the cuteness of some characters and was also a major inspiration behind the character Baby Saja. Director Maggie Kang also spoke about other K-pop groups that inspired the characters in K-Pop Demon Hunters.

She stated that the girl group ITZY was one of the groups that helped shape the characters. Additionally, Maggie Kang mentioned that the boy group TXT, also known as Tomorrow X Together, was another source of inspiration for the characters in the film.

According to Forbes, director Maggie Kang revealed that Cha Eunwoo was one of the inspirations for the character named Jinu in the Netflix film. Reports also claim that popular K-pop groups Blackpink, ATEEZ, aespa, and more served as inspirations for the show.

For the unversed, the voice cast includes Ahn Hyo Seop, Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Lee Byung Hun, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Joel Kim Booster, Yunjin Kim, Liza Koshy, and more.
