Talking about the same, the actress recalled an incident that happened on the iconic song ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ set. She revealed that the director Subhash Ghai had asked her to wear a padded bra to make her look “fuller” for the song. His comments made her upset at the time but looking back at it, Neena Gupta now understands his perspective on the same.

During her conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Neena Gupta recalled that when she was shooting for ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ from Khalnayak, director Subhash Ghai asked her to wear a padded bra. The veteran star stated that he asked the costume designer to make her appear “fuller.” At the time, his comments left her angry and she questioned how he could say something like that, adding it was “so crass.”

Reflecting on that incident, Neena Gupta revealed her changed perspective. She told Mishra that Subhash Ghai was just doing his job. The actress said that the director had a certain image in mind for the character in the song and he explained it plainly. She stated that he didn’t stare at her, adding that she was new at the time and now she understands it differently. Neena Gupta also expressed that the incident troubled her for some time but then the song was so beautiful that she forgot about it. ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ has now become an evergreen track. Even the young generation grooves to its beats. The song also features Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt.
