Here’s Why Fans Think NCT’s Yuta Avoided Signing An Album Featuring Convicted Former Member Taeil
The former NCT member was sentenced to prison for 3 and a half years for his involvement in a s*x crime.

Last year, the entire K-pop community was shaken after it was revealed that NCT member Taeil would be leaving the group after he was involved in an ongoing s*x crime investigation. In July 2025, Taeil appeared in court, where he admitted to being guilty and appealed for a lighter sentence. He ultimately got three and a half years in prison. Now, an interaction between NCT member Yuta and a fan has reignited the conversation about Taeil. Read on to know more.
Why NCT Yuta Allegedly Refused To Sign An Album Featuring Ex-Member Taeil
As the news about Taeil was revealed, SM Entertainment swiftly terminated his contract and began removing the former idol from all NCT-related content. However, no matter what the company does, it is very difficult to erase Taeil from all of NCT’s history. Past albums, songs and other promotional material still feature the idol on them.
Recently, a clip of NCT’s Japanese member Yuta at the Paris Fashion Week is going viral. The idol attended a show for Louis Vuitton show when he encountered a fan holding the group’s 2020 album Neo Zone album for him to sign. However, Yuta took a quick glance at the album and politely moved away with a subtle hand gesture. Many think that he offered an apologetic look instead of signing the album. The fan later suggested that Yuta refrained because the album features Taeil, sparking widespread discussion online.

Some viewers criticised Yuta’s decision, calling it rude to decline an autograph when interacting with a fan. Others, however, praised or sympathised with his choice, pointing out the awkwardness of endorsing merchandise that features a now-convicted criminal. Since Taeil’s departure, NCT members have avoided speaking about him publicly, and no official group statements have been made beyond SM Entertainment’s initial announcement.
